Crave - Worthy Vegan Pizza Slices

Updated: May 22

Pizza is something I could never tire of. When I travel, I always find at least one plant-based slice! Instead of dairy-based cheese, vegan pizza features creamy cashew or almond-based cheeses, and classic staples like #daiya or Follow Your Heart. With wholesome ingredients and creative combinations, plant-based pizza offers guilt-free indulgence and supports a sustainable, compassionate lifestyle.

Ohio Pie Co. (Cleveland, Ohio)

Ohio Pie, with two locations in Brunswick and Rocky River, offers a fantastic vegan menu, complete with secret vegan items (shhhh!). Their cheese blend is superb, and their crust is a perfect balance of pillowy softness and thick crunchiness. With unique specials like the vegan chicken club and gyro pizza, you can't go wrong here.

4th & State (Columbus, Ohio)

4th & State brought vegan stuffed crust to Columbus. This seriously delicious housemade crust is stuffed with stretchy and gooey vegan cheese. They also serve up smaller personal pan pizzas if you're watching your wallet or waistline. (Don't do that) They have unique toppings including tempeh BBQ chick'n or jalapeño popper!"

Harvest Pizzeria ( Columbus, Ohio)

Harvest Pizzeria has several locations around Columbus. This will be your best gourmet pizza option. With housemade almond-based cheeses, vegan pesto, and truffle mushrooms, Harvest takes pizza to the next level. This option is a little pricey, but it's worth every penny.

Fibbonaci's (Columbus, Ohio)

Located in Studio 35, Fibbonaci's offers both vegan cheese and plant-based faux meat options. Unfortunately, there is a significant upcharge for vegan substitutions, but hopefully with more support, these will go down. They have both traditional pizzas and awesome square pizzas. The pillowy crust is great, and I love their marinara.

Old Scratch (Dayton, Ohio)

Moving on to Dayton, Old Scratch Pizza is a must-stop. They have a separate vegan menu with plant-based swaps of their regular menu. They have a great white mushroom pizza called 'Vegan Shroom,' and their 'Vegan Mr. Scratch' features great vegan sausage. They use Follow Your Heart and Miyoko's.

Kitchen 17 (Chicago, Illinois)

Staying in the Midwest, Kitchen 17 boasts an extensive vegan menu, featuring classic Chicago deep-dish pizzas. Their 'Traditional' deep dish is topped with housemade almond cheese, seitan pepperoni, and soy-based sausage crumbles. For a bold twist, opt for their unconventional macaroni and cheese deep dish.

Country Style Pizza (Bridgeville, Penn)

Located in Bridgeville, this hometown favorite has a HUGE vegan menu. With a vegan owner, this long-standing carryout pizza shop has just as many vegan options as they do non-vegan options. They have many unique plant-powered pizzas including Pierogi and hamburger pies, as well as three different vegan crust options.

Black Cat Pizza (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)

I was lucky to try Black Cat at the Pittsburgh VegFest in 2022, and it stood out! From their unique potato and rosemary pizza to a more classic red pepper pizza, they have several creative options. Follow them on Instagram to catch their ordering dates.

Pura Vita (Los Angeles, California)

It is no secret that Pura Vita in Los Angeles is probably one of the most famous vegan pizza restaurants in the United States. Step into an Italian paradise with their authentic pizzas. Everything from the robust marinara to the house-made cashew cheese, these pizzas are ART. I highly recommend the San Gennaro with delicious plant-based sausage and fennel

Pizzanista! (Los Angeles, California)

Pizzanista is a vibrant spot in DTLA where you can indulge in entire pizzas or grab a slice. Their 'Seitan Meats Jesus' is a heavenly choice for faux meat lovers, while the vegan macaroni and cheese pizza delivers a playful twist! Can you tell I'm a huge macaroni fan?
